ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

“Behind Closed Doors” is a series of paintings of the traditional doors, door locks and temple doors from the three cities of Kathmandu, Nepal. It conveys the message in preserving the culture, tradition and heritage through art. Bishal states, ''I have always been fascinated by the doors around Nepal’s old cities in the capital. Whenever someone visits Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur’s Durbar Square, they will see the true wealth of our country. The very rich in textures and traditional carvings, designs along with typical Nepali door locks and pad locks are few rare examples of Nepal’s greatest treasures. These thoughts inspired me to document some of these valuable heritage in my canvases from my home country Nepal."
